'All of Venezuela, to the streets!' Juan Guaido calls for fresh demonstrations against President Maduro
Juan Guaido published a rallying cry to his supporters on Twitter, urging people back on to the streets for May Day demonstrations against Maduro who he described as a 'tyrant'. 

Guaido also claimed to be 'the legitimate commander of the armed forces', while Maduro used his own televised address to insist he is still in control of the troops.

Both men know that the loyalty of the army will be key in deciding who rules over the country, which used to be South America's most prosperous but has descended into poverty under Maduro's leadership. Guaido's call comes after a day of unrest in the capital Caracas after a band of troops switched their allegiance to him and seized control of an airbase.
